With School Direct you are interviewed and selected by a school/college and they may offer employment after the course if one arises during the training programme
For 2016/17 Cornwall SCITT will be working with:
School Direct Tuition Fee Route
On the School Direct Training Programme you could be eligible for a tax-free bursary of up to £30,000, dependent on the subject you want to teach and the degree class that you hold. You may also be eligible for a scholarship in certain subjects.
Successful completion of a School Direct course with these two partners will lead to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a PGCE.
School Direct Salaried Route
If you are changing career and are a high quality graduate with three or more years’ experience of working life, then you may be suited to a School Direct Salaried Programme. You will receive a salary on the unqualified teachers scale in negotiation with the employing school. Career changers can bring valuable skills and experience to the profession, which they have developed since leaving university. Schools will decide which skills and experience are important to them. This experience will normally have been gained since leaving university and does not have to be from an educational setting.
