Train to be a secondary school teacher with the prestigious Cornwall School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme

Requirements

  • A relevant good degree at 2:2 or above from a UK HE institution in National Curriculum core or foundation subject (other degrees and overseas qualifications with appropriate content will be considered alongside relevant experience);
  • Appropriate ‘A’ level or equivalent qualifications;
  • Grade C (or equivalent) in GCSE Mathematics and English;
  • Confidence in using appropriate ICT skills;
  • Minimum two weeks, or equivalent, school placement experience before commencing course, or other recent activities that demonstrate a particular interest in working with children;
  • Ability to travel between different training locations within the county (access to own transport is desirable due to our rural location);
  • A completed self declaration health questionnaire – applicants may be required to undertake a medical examination arranged by the Occupational Health Unit of Cornwall Council;
  • Declaration of any criminal convictions through an enhanced clearance from the Criminal Records Bureau and possible registration at a later date with the Independent Safeguarding Authority. The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 does not apply to the teaching profession.
