January 2012

Cornwall SCITT has  approval to run the Assessment Only route to Qualified Teacher Status. The first three candidates have successfully passed and now have QTS. All other places for this year have been filled.

September 2011

Cornwall SCITT has been approved by the TDA to offer a pilot scheme for Special Educational Needs and Disability Training (SEND).  This would run alongside the normal subject course but approximately one term of the school placements will be in Pencalenick School, Truro. Please contact the SCITT office for further details.

The Design and Technology (D&T) Association Annual Excellence Awards.

In March 2010 the 11th Design and Technology (D&T) Association Annual Excellence Awards for teachers, trainers and support staff who have made outstanding contributions to D&T education was held in London at the IET, Savoy Place, with winners being presented with their awards by internationally renowned designer Sir John Sorrell CBE.

Nominations for the awards, which give recognition to individuals for their unique work in design and technology education across six different categories, are made by members of the D&T Association and winners are selected by the Trustees of the Association.

A 2010 winner in Category 4: Outstanding Teacher Design and Technology Award was Philippa Iles, Helston Community College, Cornwall who trained with Cornwall SCITT in 2003.

10th Anniversary Celebration.

Staff, students and friends gathered in July to enjoy a party to celebrate 10 years of SCITT.
