The training year runs from the start of September to the end of July and comprises of 11 weeks of centre based training spread throughout the year.
The centre based training sessions are delivered by a range of specialists including educational consultants, specialist teachers and headteachers. Most centre based training sessions take place at our centre at Heartlands. Some sessions take place at a local outdoor education centre, in the woods and in schools.
“The centre based training sessions are informative and practical, making them an exciting and fun way to learn.”
We also explore multi-cultural and English as an additional language during our Bristol/London residential in the spring term.
“The London trip was the highlight of the year. It gave me the opportunity to experience schools outside of the Cornwall.” (Trainee)
The remaining 30 weeks are spent on school based training in placement schools. During this time trainees work alongside experienced class teachers, complete a range of tasks and carry out termly teaching practices.
