Meet the Team

Course Director: Lianne Knibb

Lianne is responsible for the strategic co-ordination and management of the Cornwall SCITT programmes including the recruitment, assessment and accreditation of trainees. She works closely with Programme Managers in both phases to ensure there is quality and consistency across the different routes and participating institutions. Lianne takes a lead role in the relationship between the SCITT programme, its Lead Partners and other external agencies, including the Department for Education and Ofsted.

Lianne has worked in education for over twenty years. At the start of her career, she worked in various Performing Arts schools and colleges delivering Dance and Drama to all ages. After becoming a middle leader, she moved overseas for further leadership opportunities.  Lianne has vast experience in senior leadership across school phases and curriculums in roles such as, Head of Section, Assistant Principal, Head of Sixth form and Principal of an all-through IB school. She has achieved her Masters in Leadership and Management, NPQH and NPQSL. Since returning to England, Lianne has been a School Improvement Lead and school Governor. She currently works for OneCornwall as a Teaching School Hub Lead and is the Director of Cornwall SCITT.

Lianne is from Cornwall originally and is delighted to be back home working with the fantastic Cornwall SCITT team, trainees and partnership schools across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Primary Programme Manager: Tracey Matthews

Tracey is directly responsible for the delivery and quality assurance of all aspects of the course including recruitment of course personnel and trainees, organisation, administration, teaching programmes, placements and assessments. She works closely with SCITT and its Lead Partners, Bath Spa University and the Department for Education.

Primary Assistant Programme Manager: Tamsin Preston

Tamsin is involved in all aspects of the course including monitoring and support visits to partner schools; offering personalised training when required; sitting on selection panels and contributing to the data collection and analysis required for reporting on the quality of the training course.

Primary Course Administrator: Liz Rees

Liz is responsible for managing the administration of the Primary course. She is the main point of contact for enquiries about the course, applications, interviews, onboarding and pre-course information. Having worked as a primary school teacher for 24 years before joining Cornwall SCITT, Liz brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her background means she understands first-hand the demands of teaching, as well as the many rewards the profession brings.  Liz is committed to supporting applicants throughout the recruitment process and helping them feel well-prepared as they begin their teacher training journey.

Secondary Programme Manager: Clara White

Clara is directly responsible for the delivery and quality assurance of all aspects of the course including recruitment of course personnel and trainees, organisation, administration, teaching programmes, placements and assessments. She works closely with SCITT and its Lead Partners, Bath Spa University and the Department for Education.

Clara has worked in education in Cornwall for over 20 years; an award-winning English teacher, she has worked in a number of schools, including as Head of English & Media. Clara has proactively supported trainee teachers throughout her career, initially as a school-based mentor, before working for Cornwall SCITT in a number of roles before becoming the Secondary Programme Manager. It is a role she relishes, recognising it is a privilege to support trainees at this fundamental time in their careers, providing them with the foundations they need to flourish as teachers.

Secondary Assistant Programme Manager: Hannah Rendall

Secondary Course Administrator: Lex Blake

Alexa (Lex) Blake is the Course Administrator for Secondary Education for Cornwall SCITT and plays a key role in supporting trainees throughout their teacher training journey. She manages course administration from initial enquiries and applications through to interviews, enrolment, finance, and programme completion. Lex works closely with trainees, mentors, partnership schools, and the wider SCITT team, providing guidance, practical support, and a friendly point of contact throughout the year.

Having joined Cornwall SCITT in 2021, Lex brings extensive experience in administration, education, and customer support. With a background in PE and sports education, she is passionate about helping others succeed and enjoys supporting trainees as they develop into confident, effective teachers.

Subject Leaders

Subject Leaders and Trainers provide training that focusses on how to approach a range of educational issues from the perspective of a subject specialist. Subject Studies complements the topics covered in our Education and Professional Studies Programmes, but with a particular focus on how to approach this within their subject specialism. In Secondary, Subject Leaders also provide additional support and monitoring while trainees are on placement.

Trainers
