Training tomorrow's teachers, today

News

What makes someone want to become a teacher? 👩‍🏫

For one of our aspiring teachers, the answer was simple:

“To inspire young people.”💙

That was just one of the powerful conversations during a session with James Davidson, Headteacher at Penair School and Chair of Cornwall SCITT, who took time out to share his valuable experience with our teacher training cohort.

From the challenges of the classroom to the rewards of making a difference, James gave our future teachers a valuable insight into life in the profession and what it really means to inspire the next generation.

We can’t wait to see the difference they make!

🎉 Cornwall SCITT does it again: 25 years training Teachers of the Future!

This year marks a significant milestone for Cornwall SCITT, as it celebrates its 25th cohort of trainee teachers achieving Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

As part of the University Centre's teacher education pathway, we're proud to celebrate the success of the latest cohort of Primary and Secondary trainees, who marked the culmination of a year defined by resilience, professionalism, reflection, and growth. Supported every step of the way by mentors, trainers, partner schools and our incredible team, they are now ready to begin the next chapter of their teaching careers.

👏 Congratulations to every trainee. Your journey as a teacher is only just beginning!
