Training tomorrow's teachers, today

Celebrating 25 Years!

2025–2026 marks a major milestone for Cornwall SCITT – our 25th anniversary!

Since our founding, Cornwall School-Centred Initial Teacher Training has supported, inspired, and developed a wealth of passionate new teachers. As we celebrate 25 years of delivering high-quality teacher training, we're reflecting on the journeys, memories, and achievements that have shaped who we are today.

This page is a space to celebrate our story — featuring photographs, testimonials, and memories from past trainees and staff who have trained with or worked alongside Cornwall SCITT.

We’d love to hear from you!
If you have any stories, photos, or reflections to share please send them to:

🌟 Throwback Thursday – celebrating 25 years: Claire Spinks 🌟

From NHS worker to English teacher.

Teaching isn’t just a job, it’s about opening doors and transforming lives. Cornwall SCITT gave me more than a PGCE; it gave me a community, confidence, and a future.

Since entering the world of teaching in 2022, I’ve loved building strong connections, leading creative writing clubs, and even collaborating with the Royal Shakespeare Company! 🎭

One of our first lessons was that ‘no teacher is an island.’ The relationships I built during the course are still strong, I even met my now husband there (he’s a Maths teacher!), and we’ve just welcomed our new daughter into the world. 💕👶

💡 Top tip for trainees & ECTs: Be unapologetically ambitious and resilient. Always put your name in the hat for any opportunity at your school!

Proud to be part of Cornwall SCITT’s 25-year legacy and excited for what’s next! 📚✨

✨ Celebrating 25 Years of Cornwall SCITT ✨

We were delighted to hear from one of our recent trainees, Lauren Greenslade (2023–2024 cohort), who shared her reflections on her time with Cornwall SCITT.

Lauren writes:

💬 “During my time at SCITT, Tracey and Tamsin were such amazing teachers and mentors. They guided us through both tricky and challenging situations, and were there with us to celebrate the milestones and successes. I am still thankful to be so close to some of my fellow and former classmates. We owe our success to SCITT, as without them, we wouldn’t have met so many incredible people or been placed in such amazing schools with wonderful mentors.”*

Thank you, Lauren, for sharing your journey with us. Stories like yours are what make 25 years of Cornwall SCITT so special! 💙
