Luke Kemp - Primary SCITT Trainee 2025/26
"After serving 22 years in the British Army, transitioning into the world of education was a daunting prospect. However, the Cornwall SCITT team provided exceptional support throughout the course, making it both rewarding and achievable.
The programme was challenging, but I benefited greatly from the advice, guidance and encouragement provided by both the SCITT team and my school-based mentors. The school placements were particularly valuable, allowing me to develop my teaching practice and apply the educational theory learnt during centre-based training in a real classroom environment.
I am now thoroughly enjoying my first teaching role at Cornwall College. The course provided me with strong foundations on which to build upon during my teaching career."

Natalie Mankee - Primary SCITT Trainee 2025/26
“I recently achieved QTS through Cornwall SCITT’s apprenticeship programme. Being predominantly school-based was particularly beneficial, allowing me to build on my five years’ experience as a Teaching Assistant. My tutor, Tamsin, was incredibly supportive and always available to offer guidance and reassurance. I am now an ECT1 and thoroughly enjoying my journey into teaching.”

Jemima Grigg - Primary SCITT Trainee 2025/26
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a trainee teacher with SCITT and am incredibly grateful for the support, guidance, and opportunities it provided. Throughout my training, I gained valuable classroom experience, developed my confidence and learnt strategies that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. I was encouraged and challenged throughout the programme, which allowed me to develop the skills needed to begin my teaching career successfully.
The learning and experience I gained during my time with SCITT continue to support me every day in my current teaching role. Since qualifying, I have loved becoming part of a school community and having my own class. Seeing the progress the children make, building positive relationships with them and helping them grow in confidence and knowledge is incredibly rewarding. My experience with SCITT gave me a strong foundation for teaching, and I am thankful for the role it has played in helping me become the teacher I am today. It also confirmed for me that teaching is the right career, and I genuinely love the role I have in school now.”
