Testimonials
We love seeing where our trainees’ journeys take them after completing their training with Cornwall SCITT 🙌
This year, we’re especially proud to share that three of our former trainees are now in their first year as Early Career Teachers (ECTs) at Hayle Academy! 🎉
They’re already making a real impact, teaching:
📐 Design & Technology (DT)
⚽ Physical Education (PE)
🌍 Geography
It’s fantastic to see them thriving in their first teaching roles, bringing energy, expertise and dedication to their classrooms every day. Supporting trainees from training through to ECT and beyond is what Cornwall SCITT is all about, and we couldn’t be prouder of their continued success.

🎓 Meet Tessa – Cornwall SCITT Graduate 🌟
Now teaching at Wadebridge School, Tessa shares her journey from teaching assistant to trainee to full-time teacher! 👩🏫✨
💬 "The variety of schools I got to visit on ITaP weeks, in addition to my two main placements, gave me such a well-rounded experience. The gradual increase in placement time made the move into my ECT1 year feel natural and smooth."
📚 Tessa now teaches Religious Studies and English – blending her teacher training with her undergraduate degree to create the best of both worlds!
So, what’s she loving most about her new role?
💛 “Being a Year 7 tutor, working with a really supportive Humanities department, and helping with extracurriculars like the Duke of Edinburgh award. Wadebridge School is such a welcoming community — I feel so lucky to have joined it after my second placement!”

🎓 Meet Sadia – Cornwall SCITT Graduate 🌟
Now teaching at Bodmin College, Sadia shares her journey from trainee to full-time teacher! 👩🏫✨
💛 "I valued my training year with Cornwall SCITT . The high-quality mentoring, the chance to observe and learn from a variety of experienced teachers, and the practical, hands-on approach really helped me grow in confidence. The balance between academic study and classroom practice gave me a strong foundation to manage the demands of teaching, and the supportive network made the journey both motivating and enjoyable.
I can already see how these experiences are benefiting me now at Bodmin College, where the busy and dynamic environment feels like a natural continuation of what I developed during training."
So, how is your new role going?
✨ “Things are going well at Bodmin College. It’s a busy and dynamic environment, with plenty of tasks and exciting opportunities keeping everyone engaged and motivated. There’s always something happening, which makes the experience both challenging and rewarding.”

🎓 Meet JP 🌟
Now teaching at Redruth School, JP shares his journey from trainee to full-time teacher!
"I really valued the high quality feedback we received from the SCITT team, and from school-based mentors, which massively helped me to grow in confidence and ability to deliver high-quality lessons"

🎓 Meet Lucy 🌟
"I trained with Cornwall SCITT in 2007/2008, choosing the programme because I valued the opportunity to be in the classroom from early in the year and to apply what we were learning in our EPS and Subject Sessions straight away"
"I thoroughly enjoyed my training experience, particularly my placements at Wadebridge and Treviglas.
Throughout my nearly 18-year teaching career, I have worked at Penair, during which time I have maintained strong links with Cornwall SCITT. I have supported the programme as a trainee mentor and, more recently, as Deputy Subject Lead for Science. I feel very fortunate to have been involved with SCITT in various roles throughout my career and value the opportunities this has given me."
